A new journey is about how I linked both career paths into one~
Culinary was and still in many ways is present in my design career path and just generally in life. As, I cook daily. I bake all of my family's celebration cakes. I bake cookies to share with family and friends through the year and especially during the Christmas holiday.
During those culinary years, packaging of the product was paramount as it related to keeping edibles fresh but yet attractive as well. Now with Miller Design + Gifts we have corporate clients on board again. Pre-holiday planning is always in my scope in researching. But generally we start in early Autumn or late Summer. We approach the client with our updated package presentation and product line to prepare for the forthcoming season. Artistry is present in all our curated decor + gifts, retail displays, and our packaging.
So, you ask how does this compare or relate to Interior Design or design in general? Well they overlap because of the artistic eye that is needed in both genres. Taste was always important as in the phrase "pleasing to the palate and eye " which was always a pre-requisite and still is with our favored vendor Eclat Chocolates. To start the flawless design of packaging and chocolates are top notch. Artistic interpretations abound in all the finished chocolates and the packaging their presented in.
They create a wide array of fine gourmet chocolates and confections. Although, what they offer is diverse our personal favorites are The Mondiant Assorted and their new Caramel Dragee's! Due to the shorter shelf life for a few of the items we keep them as holiday treats for customers to purchase and enjoy. Because all of their chocolates are so delicious and refined we try to keep the dragee's and chocolate bars on hand throughout all seasons.
As I mentioned artistry / design is another necessary requirement as is quality of product. Did you know the Classic April Vases we carry are from Paris, France? These beautifully designed unique vases were entered into the Georges Pompidou Museum of Modern Art in the 1990's. These vases come in a variety of styles with one named Little Ginger that arrives with amber colored tubes. Their newest style is a special order item with the interlocking tubes made with Limoges porcelain instead of the clear or amber glass. They all are quite lovely and at varied price points!
Another unique and well crafted delicate design from Paris, France is the La Bougie Porcelain beeswax candle and the aesthetically pleasing Igloo Candles with tealight. Take a look at the exquisite porcelain plates and dinnerware we carry as well. (see images below)
We also support our local and internationally known artists Cordell + Rachel Cordaro! If you are not familiar with these wonderful artists, please click on the link Here.
We have a small collection of their pencil signed prints and note cards. The prints are on acid free, archival paper and affordably priced. They will make your interiors shine with artful loveliness! Our hopes are to include more of Rachel and Cordells' varied artful product line. Fingers crossed it will be sooner than later.
Thank you for following along on my personal career journey.....We hope you visit us soon! xox
